Austin FC will head to New Jersey for Leagues Cup quarterfinal match against Toluca
Austin FC will travel to Harrison, N.J., for its Wednesday, Aug. 26 match against Toluca in Leagues Cup. It's not 8,700 feet up in a stadium nicknamed "Hell," but it's also far from home.
From the official club press release:
Leagues Cup today announced the full schedule for the tournament’s 2026 Quarterfinal Round, including Austin FC’s quarterfinal match against Liga MX side Toluca FC. Austin will face Toluca at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey on Wednesday, August 26, with kickoff at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT.
Verde won’t have to go to elevation to face Toluca FC, but the Red Devils drew a significant crowd in Harrison, N.J., last year for Leagues Cup (12,000, to hear friend of the site Seth Rau tell it). If you are “Verde Hasta La Muerte,” it’s time to quickly see which airline you have miles on can get you there in just under two weeks’ time.
The trip to the Greater New York area will give Austin a wild week and a half of travel, away to Seattle, home against Philadelphia, to Harrison for a quarterfinal, and then back out to Cascadia against Portland on the same coast where it started to end a span of 11 days.
Verde All Day was aware that at the end of the night yesterday, the final three candidates were the Galaxy’s home in Carson, Kansas City (probably former SKC Captain Davy Arnaud’s preference), and the home of the Red Bulls where it ended up.
It’s better than 8,700 feet, but Austin players will be hoping for as many Wednesday Warriors with flexible work and family schedules to come see them as possible. This is the kind of thing where it would behoove the club to try to organize a “send off” event for fans who can’t travel to charge up the players’ batteries.
Just a thought.

Eze Onuoha is a 17-year-old defensive midfielder from Finland who could be Austin FC's next signing. But will he first be a mainstay for Austin FC II? And given his reported transfer fee, is that smart roster building?
Austin FC's possession numbers and xG values haven't been sterling in 2026. But the changes made under Davy Arnaud are perceptible and bearing out in the numbers, per one analyst.
Austin FC announced that it will be playing the 2027 Coachella Valley Invitational — its fourth straight appearance at the tournament. Here's what we learned about that, and by extension, the sprint season.
Resiliency is the word of the day, as Austin FC rallied from a three-goal deficit to draw San Diego FC and stay in the playoff race. Despite an eight-match unbeaten streak, the postseason could hinge on beating MLS' best team.
