Zeroing in: We did some math to compare Austin FC's offensive numbers to the rest of MLS – and it's bad

Austin FC's singularly troubled in a few key offensive metrics 2/3 of the way through the season. Is hope on the horizon?

You should feel good about Gyasi Zardes’ two goals last time out, but you should also put that into perspective.

Recently, in assessing Austin FC, I’ve talked about its lack of shots and shots on targets, noting that the team’s been lowest in the league in both those categories.

But I’m about to take you on a mathematical journey, buttressed by several hours of sorting through stats from all 29 MLS teams, to show how bleak Austin’s numbers are compared to the rest of the league.

Let’s start with the basics.
