Carrying over from Wednesday — and the continual quest of rooting for everything to go Austin FC’s way — here’s a preview of Saturday’s matches with an eye toward Verde making the playoffs.
Yes, Verde could have helped themselves with three points against the Galaxy. Yes, that was a bad way to see a win turn into a draw. But if Verde really can make the playoffs, it will need to start with a win against the Rapids on Saturday, because honestly, if they can’t beat the worst team in the West at this desperate juncture, they don’t need to be in the playoffs.
Maybe they can take inspiration from Austin FC II, who made SKC II Benny Feilhaber picking VerDos as their opponent in the MLS Next Pro playoffs. He’ll definitely regret doing that by saying “scared money don’t make money,” as VerDos celebrated winning 2-0 last night with a lot of money-related celebrations.
Note that the Rapids are very beatable. And there’s a fun event for watching that very possibly happen tonight — the Austin Beerworks watch party teaming up Fighting Leslies and Pollo FC for Community First! Village.
