The Second Pass: The last quotes we're going to get for a couple of weeks

With an international break starting, I don't expect we'll hear a lot from the Austin FC camp for a week or so. (But I've got some great content planned all the same.)

For Austin FC, Saturday’s draw against New England was more than just the timely end to a five-match losing streak. The point won placed the team on something of a positive upswing before the international break that will keep Verde idle until Sept. 17.

At that point, Austin kicks into a Sunday-Wednesday-Sunday schedule, hosting Portland, going to New Jersey, and returning home to host the Galaxy.

Then, it’s six days before another three-matches-in-eight-days block, which will see Austin go to Colorado, host D.C., and then host LAFC. At that point, the season’s almost over, with a two-week gap between the LAFC match and the season finale at San Jose.

That also means we probably won’t get to talk to Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff and a player until Sept. 15, the Thursday before the Timbers come to town. I have a few things planned in the interim, including fielding your mailbag questions (which you can put in the comments; just make sure you indicate they’re for the mailbag).

Also, let me share with you an interview that Evil Mopac, the highway behind a Twitter account turned fantastic Substack account, interviewed Brad Stuver for his newly-launched podcast. (There is an actual person behind the Evil Mopac account of course, but I like to think it’s an stretch of clogged northish-southish freeway responsible for all the writing and podcasting, and I find it funny to refer to him as “My road,” like you might say “My man.”

I also find it funny that he says Enfield Road is his “researcher.”

Let’s go ahead and visit some quotes we didn’t get to in Saturday’s match recap.
