A few days ago, you probably didn’t have Osman Bukari on your radar. Now, the Ghanaian winger might be on his way to becoming the best (or second-best) player on the Austin FC roster.
This fast-moving Verde news week accelerated further with the report, first in Serbian publication Mozzart Sport, that Austin FC has shelled out 7 million euros (about $7.5 million) for his services. (The publication also has the hilarious-if-true detail that the Chicago Fire angled as well, offering €10 million for Bukari.)

There were also rumors that the LA Galaxy was in for Bukari during the most recent offseason before opting for another Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil, who’s working out quite well for them so far.
By the way, props to my partner in Emergency Podcasting, Moisés Chiullán, who alerted me to Paintsil’s new single (!), “Without You.” As the probable 2024 MLS All-Star declares in this tweet, “It’s Love Season.”
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert heaped some kindling on the rumor fire a few hours ago, tweeting that Verde is finalizing the deal. Given that Austin media has an audience with Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell on Thursday morning, I’m sure this is a subject we’ll broach.
