Austin FC head coach Nico Estévez isn't one to typically humblebrag, but when a soccer legend like David Beckham swings by your locker room after a match in which your team drew against his MLS Cup Champions, well, you have to let someone know.
Notably, in the context of the press conference following Saturday's 2-2 draw in Nu Stadium's first-ever match, Estévez made the revelation – while positively assessing what his team did as considerable underdogs — that the talismanic Inter Miami CF co-owner paid his compliments to Verde.
"We look at today, we feel proud about our performance," he said. "We had moments. We had a plan. We had an idea ... we're very close to what we want to be as a team and what Austin FC and its fans deserve."
