When it comes to knowing player contract lengths, MLS isn’t as transparent as the NFL or NBA.
Knowing the current contract status of Austin FC players is dependent on Googling club releases on signings and contract extensions (or, if you’re me, having them in your email inbox) – and it’s not something the club has done for every single player in its history.
I decided to assess the state of the current roster as new sporting director Rodolfo Borrell gears up for his first offseason, which is only three months away. (This assumes Verde gets to the playoffs. I’m going to be positive assumptive.)
My goal was to nail down the details on everyone on the current roster. I got close. I got real close — including 16 of the 18 current senior roster players, and I feel fairly confident about the other two.
