After Saturday’s 2-0 loss against Sporting Kansas City — a hope-giving win for SKC fans after an immensely dismal stretch — Josh Wolff assessed the stakes that played out over the 90 minutes.
“There was one team that needed to win and there's another team that that looked like it would just be nice if we won,” Wolff said. “And we knew that was the reality of it. That team, Kansas City, was there up against the wall. They have to win games right now. That's where they're at. And the approach from our guys, from the standpoint of effort and attitude and toughness, missed the mark significantly.”
But, I asked in my follow-up question, doesn’t that attitude start with coaching? After all, while Austin’s not trying to right a Wooden Spoon-level listing ship, the team was ostensibly trying to bank a very gettable three road points in a part of the season where the roster is at its thinnest.
