# Breaking News: Joseph Rosales officially signs with Austin FC

The Joseph Rosales-to-Austin signing [we contemplated in detail](https://verdeallday.com/austin-fc-reported-trade-joseph-rosales-minnesota-united-fc/) on Sunday is now official. 

The club announced the deal on Tuesday, bringing the 25-year-old Honduran international from Minnesota United FC (described in the release as a "defender/midfielder," putting what position he'll actually play for Verde in a veil of mystery). Quick salient points from the release worth noting: 

- It's a $1.5 million cash-for-player trade, making it the first time Austin FC's used this mechanism introduced last winter window (and protecting the General Allocation Money that sporting director Rodolfo Borrell has already spent or is going to spend);
- He signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with Austin, guaranteed through June 2029 with an option for the 2029-30 season; and
- While he takes up a senior roster spot, he's a green card holder and thereby does not take up an international roster spot.
