Austin FC moved its top pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft for a much-needed (we are pretty sure) international spot on Friday, but did actually secure two players who certainly have the opportunity to contribute to Austin FC’s second team if not the first.
Riley Thomas and Patrick Gryczewski may or may not make a difference for Austin FC, and you could argue that only one player in Verde’s SuperDraft history has made an appreciable different (positively, that is). But the annual tradition in futility and scrambling to get up-to-date on college soccer got me thinking: Is it time to look at five years of SuperDrafts as well as these new players to deliver you a little more than 3,000 words to keep you content with Verde content this pending slow holiday week?
