The Battle of Los Angeles, released in 1999, was Rage Against the Machine’s best and most complete album. They’ve had some stellar songs on other albums — Evil Empire’s got “Bulls on Parade” and “Down Rodeo,” for instance, and the debut album gave us my favorite TikTok video of all time — but if you want an album in which every track’s integrated and purposefully ordered, The Battle of Los Angeles is the one.
